REGIONAL, STATE AND CORPORATE SCHOLARSHIPS

The school counselors in southwest Iowa have compiled the list of scholarships provided below. Updates are made as schools receive information throughout the year. 

South Page Booster Club Scholarship

Any SPHS senior is eligible; please fill out the SPHS local application; booster club selects recipients. 

DUE: March 15, 2024 to Mrs. Almelien.

South Page Foundation Scholarship

$500 Scholarship. Any SPHS senior is eligible. Please complete foundation application (essay). The Foundation will select the recipient. 

DUE: March 15, 2024 to Mrs. Almelien.

South Page Amity Hall Scholarship

$100 Scholarship. Any SPHS senior is eligible; Please complete the SPHS Local Application Form.  One Male and One Female will be selected. The representative of SPHS will select recipients.

DUE: March 15, 2024 to Mrs. Almelien.

Partners in Exceptional Care Scholarship

Applicant must be an employee of CRHC; a family member of someone employed by CRHC; a PEC member; a family member of a PEC member; or have participated in the CRHC Volunteen program.

 

DUE: April 15, 2024 to Clarinda Regional Health Center.

State Grants & Scholarships

Grant and scholarship funds are available to assist students in paying educational expenses. Unlike student loans, scholarships and grants are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid. Below is a list of state of Iowa grants and scholarships available to Iowans.  Because each program is different, it is important to read and understand their specific eligibility requirements and application deadlines.  Additional programs are available through the federal government and private sources

Iowa Federal Aid Application

Although applying for state financial aid requires effort on your part, it has never been easier. By completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will apply for most federal, state, and institutional scholarships, grants, and work study programs. Some state grant programs require a separate application which you can complete through the Eligibility Wizard. This single application will allow you to apply for multiple state programs. Please be aware of the individual application deadlines surrounding the state scholarship and grant programs.

Linda Armstrong and Charles Keppard Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition aid for the post-secondary education for a graduating senior from any school district within Page, Mills, Montgomery, and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa and Cass, Nemaha, and Sarpy counties in Nebraska.

  1. Applicants must be planning to attend a trade/vocational school or community college in the Skilled Construction Trades which may include but are not limited to electrician, plumber, carpenter, welder, brick layer/stone mason, drywall, sheet metal, iron worker, pipe-fitter as well as general contractor supervisor/management positions.

  2. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

American Legion Scholarship

A scholarship of $1000 will be awarded by the American Legion Sergy Post 98.

An applicant must be a high school senior who plans to enroll in a college or trade school.  The applicant must have a grandparent, parent, or sibling who is enlisted or has received an honorable discharge from any branch of  military.           

The deadline for submitting the application is March 30, 2024.  Send the completed application to American Legion Sergy Post 98, 107 W Washington, Clarinda, IA 51632.

American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship

Any graduating senior enrolled in a post-high-school program at IWCC
(Clarinda Campus) may apply.

Bank Iowa Spirit of Chandy Scholarship

Due to Bank Iowa - Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academics, character, leadership, honors/awards received and participation in school and community activities, as well as involvement in the activities Chandy was passionate about (swimming, biking, running and flying).

DUE: March 1, 2024. Scholarship can be dropped off at Bank Iowa in Clarinda. 

Local Scholarship Application is not required for this scholarship. Please use the provided form. 

Charles Hockenberry Foundation Scholarship

Application Information Letter

The Charles Hockenberry Foundation Board plans to award $1,000 scholarships to individuals in the 2023 South Page High School graduating class.  Please note that an award will be given if there are enough qualified applicants that demonstrate a need under the Foundations guidelines.  Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to further their education while facing a significant obstacle (financial, physical, or mental disadvantage); or document how they have overcome a major challenge mentioned above to get to where they are today.

Clarinda Veterans Scholarship

The Clarinda Veterans Scholarship Fund was established by a group of local veterans to provide tuition aid for the post-secondary education of a Clarinda or South Page graduating senior that plans to enroll at an accredited technical/vocational school or college and is a descendent (sibling, child, grandchild or great-grandchild) of a U.S. veteran with special consideration based on need, scholarly achievement, character and reputation.

Ethel Brockman Nursing Scholarship

The Ethel Brockman Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to a Clarinda High School or South Page High School graduating senior planning to pursue a degree in higher education with the intent to become a registered nurse.

Gary Knox Memorial

The Gary Knox Memorial Scholarship was established in their memory of Gary by his daughter
Karen Brandt. This scholarship is to be awarded to an individual that graduated from Clarinda or
South Page High Schools or a homeschool student that graduated within the Clarinda or South
Page school districts in Iowa and achieved a 3.0 minimum GPA. The recipient of the scholarship
must plan to pursue a degree in Education/Teaching, Math, or Engineering.

Hensleigh Memorial Scholarship

The Hensleigh Memorial Scholarship has been established by the family of Albert D. Hensleigh and Eula Fern Bair Hensleigh. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds to graduating seniors from the South Page Community School District. 

 

In keeping with the Hensleigh Family's desire to provide a scholarship that is "based upon academics, character, and service to one's church," applicants will complete the local scholarship application as well as a Christian Service Profile to be completed by the students and his or her pastor.

Lois Wagoner Education Scholarship

The Lois Wagoner Education Scholarship was established in their memory of Lois by her husband Roger and their children Tim Wagoner and Lisa Lien. This scholarship is to be awarded to an individual that graduated from Clarinda, South Page, Shenandoah, or Essex High School in Iowa and will be enrolled in their junior or senior year of college pursuing a major in primary or secondary education.

Helen Hawley O.E.S. Music Award

UPDATED SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR 2023 HAS NOT BEEN RELEASE YET. TYPICALLY RELEASED IN MARCH OF EACH YEAR.  

  • High School Seniors graduating from Clarinda, Sidney, Shenandoah or South Page schools.

  • A good overall academic record with a G.P.A. no less than 2.75 on a 4-Point scale.  Please have the counselor or principal verify this G.P.A. with his/her signature.

  • An outstanding record of participation in high school musical activities, including instrumental, vocal, musical theater, or community musical activities.  Leadership in one or more areas of music will count extra.

  • A desire to make music an important part of your adult life

Iowa College Aid - Last Dollar Scholarship

The Last-Dollar Scholarship is available to:

NEW HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES who enroll in a qualified program of study full-time or enroll in an eligible program part-time along with an approved work-based learning program for the fall immediately following high school graduation, apply for all other available state and federal grants and scholarships, and meet ongoing requirements.

ADULT LEARNERS (age 20 and older) who enroll in a qualified program of study full-time or part-time, apply for all other available state and federal grants and scholarships, and meet ongoing requirements.

Iowa Western Scholarships

Awarded to students attending Iowa Western Community College - any campus. Iowa Western Foundation Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, involvement and/or financial need.

John and Michael Minard Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Fund is to provide tuition aid to further the education of a full-time student seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate from Iowa Western Community College, Clarinda campus. a. This student must have completed at least one semester at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) – Clarinda Campus (including high school dual enrollment). b. The student must have graduated high school from Clarinda, South Page, Bedford, or Southwest Valley. c. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. d. Special consideration is also based on need, scholarly achievement, character, and reputation.

Harold & Dale McKinley Education Scholarship

*** THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS FOR STUDENTS THAT ARE IN COLLEGE ALREADY.

This scholarship is to be awarded to an individual that graduated from either Clarinda or South Page and will be enrolled in their junior or senior year of college pursuing a major in primary or secondary education

Page County Cattlemen Scholarship

The Page County Cattlemen are awarding scholarships to any high school senior in Page County whose family is a member of the Page County Cattlemen’s Association.  The student can be entering college for any field of study.  The dollar amount will be determined based off of the number of applicants.

Kolleen McGargill Foundation Scholarship

1. Must be a senior in high school in good standing. 

2. Must have a G.P.A. of 2.50 or higher.

3. Must LIVE IN Fremont or Page County, Iowa.

4. Requires Counselor Signature

5 Requires attendance record and transcript.

Southwest Iowa Educational Foundation Scholarships

This website has several  SWI scholarships. Please read through them and follow their criteria for application as it is different from the criteria listed above. 

Norman and Wanda Wynn Scholarship

The Norman & Wanda Wynn Scholarship fund was established by their family to assist a Clarinda, South Page, or Bedford High School graduating senior who is pursuing postsecondary education in an agricultural field of study.

DUE: March 15, 2024 to Mrs. Almelien or Clarinda Foundation.

Alec Woldruff Memorial Scholarship

1. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition aid for the post-high school education for a graduating high school senior from Page County or Taylor County in Iowa.

a. Applicants must be planning to attend a trade/vocational school or community college to study Mechanics or Agriculture Mechanics.

b. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

c. Special consideration is also based on need, scholarly achievement, character, and reputation.
